2014 Library Of Congress Book Festival

CNN Booth National Book Festival
My wife and I attended the 2014 Library Of Congress Book Festival at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington DC on Saturday, and man…was it packed!

There were a lot of people attending, and the excitement level was high.  We walked all through the convention center, and there were authors in breakout rooms and salons talking about their books, there were tables full of books to browse and buy, an entire hall devoted to dozens of booths (with rope lines) for book signings, and in general, lots of activities to choose from.

Lynn W. Sneyd, H. Alan Day, Sandra Day O'Connor
We spent time at the culinary book area, and watched some cooking demonstrations, then went over and sat in on a book discussion on “The Horse Lover: A Cowboy’s Quest to Save the Wild Mustangs” featuring the authors (Lynn W. Sneyd, H. Alan Day, and his sister – retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor), and had a lunch upstairs with the Local Author’s Scene members.

All in all, a great day with like-minded folks, out to enjoy a day with books, authors, and interesting people.  If you’re in the area next year, I highly recommend it!

On August 30th I will be at the 14th annual Library Of Congress Book Festival.   More than 100 authors, poets, and illustrators will be presenting at the conference this year.  The conference begins at 10 am. and goes through 10pm. that evening.  I am particularly interested in hearing the presentations at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center between 10 am. and 6 pm. that day.  This is a free event and I invite all my friends to attend.  Whether you are an author or not, this Book Festival will be an interesting foray into authors and publishers minds.   I am really looking forward to meeting and mingling with fellow authors and making a real day out of it.

"The Library of Congress Pavilion offers an in-depth look at the many ways the Library brings its extraordinary resources to Congress and the American people everywhere. A variety of special exhibits will be on view, and you can hear from representatives of the various Library divisions on the work they do to collect, share and preserve the creative and intellectual heritage of the nation at the world’s largest library."

If you are free on Sunday the 30th of August, it would be great to see you at the Book Festival.   Full information about the festival is available at the conference website.
